Music Filled Summer Weekend! Rocking Right Now 7/7/17
Just like every fleeting and cherished Chicago summer weekend, this one is also filled with amazing music and festivals. But don't worry, I sneaked in some food too. Click here to listen to my full radio segment on 101-WKQX.
The Polenta Bar

So I may be biased (I'm definitely biased)- but Italian stuff is just better, right? Food, clothes, language, hand gestures... But let's get back to food. The Polenta Bar (a first of its kind) just opened on Lake Street in the West Loop and I am PUMPED. They marry the concepts of authentic Northern Italian cuisine with Fast Casual service. Think a legit Italian Chipotle. They even brought in their chef from Milan! Basically the concept is creamy polenta that comes out of a soft serve machine and you move on down the line and top it with several different toppings. Some of those sauces/toppings are Arrabbiata, Creamy Portabella Mushroom, Grilled Octopus with Olives, Spicy Milanese sausage, and more. I'll be in Milan in two weeks so I'll let you know JUST how authentic it really is ;) Buon Apettito!

West Fest and Empty Bottle
I LOVE that these two events/venues this week are showcasing some hard core 90's alt rockers. West Fest (Chicago Ave. between Wood and Damen) will feature Local H on July 9th. I'm so jealous of all of you that get to hear Bound For the Floor Live. "Ya just don't get it, keep it copacetic."
On Thursday, July 13th, you can head over to Empty Bottle for a "pre" Pitchfork Aftershow to check out Thurston Moore Group. Yes he and his ex-wife, Kim Gordon, fronted the mega influential iconic alt-rock band, Sonic Youth. Just tryin' to keep the 90's alive, folks!

Summerfest
Ahhhh Milwaukee, the land of Harley Davidson, cheese, and beer... and SUMMERFEST!!! Well known as the world's largest music festival, it spans 9 days and countless stages. Some great picks for the final weekend are: Chevelle (Sat- 9:45 PM), Highly Suspect (Sat. 5:15 PM), DNCE (Sat. 10:15 PM), Bob Dylan (Sun. 8PM), Willie Nelson (Sun 9:45 PM)

But of course, I'm going there to get mah Country onnn! Saturday evening, I'll be hanging in the VIP area of the BMO Harris Bank Pavillion to watch The Band Perry. The insanely talented sibling trio is incredible live, and I'm so stoked to partake in all the deelish food and drinks that BMO Harris will be providing while watching some of the best country music around! Oh, and I'll be filming Eat Travel Rock TV, so stay tuned for the episode that we'll be releasing!
