Rocking Right Now- Brando's Speakeasy, Formento's, True Food Kitchen- 4/13/17

Brando's Speakeasy

Sick of your regular old bars?  Where you only go for booze?  Well time to step up your next bar outing with some Karaoke.  Head over to Brando's Speakeasy in the loop, it's also Chicago's number one Karaoke bar.  They have over 300,000 songs on demand and you can belt out your fave tunes while drinking martinis (an old-school favorite), specialty cocktails, and yummy bites.  

It's dark and cozy and definitely has a speakeasy vibe.  Also, it's unique location in a historic part of the loop, feels even more like you're stepping back in time.  But if you're not in a karaoke mood, step into their Essaness Room (with a separate entrance on Plymouth) that's newly remodeled and is a true speakeasy that pays major homage to the "roaring twenties".

Formento's 

Formento's might be my favorite Italian in the city.  I love that it gives you a taste of the old school "red sauce" Italian American spots, but it also gives you a modern take AND an authentic Italian spin as well.  All of their ingredients are super-seasonal and beyond fresh.  So many of their dishes are light and bright, and it can actually be a great way to eat healthy Italian grub as well.

Plus they have an insane cocktail and wine list that pairs perfectly with their menu.  Check out the episode of Eat Travel Rock TV I filmed there last summer!

True Food Kitchen

Love love love True Food Kitchen.  The River North spot is new on the scene and is an amazing place for a mix of a cool scene, great cocktails, but healthy and organic dishes.  Everything on the menu has a healthy spin to it and you will leave there guilt-free and feeling good.... even after a drink or two.  This inside out quinoa burger is vegetarian and it beyond scrumptious.  You won't miss the meat.
