Two Girls, One Jeep, and California

You may have read about my culinary travels around California in my last blog.  But there was a lot more to our trip than just eating!!  (shocking, I know)  My amazing friend, Tiffany Louise, and I got to rent a badass Jeep and road trip around one of my favorite states for five whole days.  It was a blast.... there's nothing better than two girlfriends singing out loud to the radio while zooming down the highway with the picturesque Sierra Nevadas as your backdrop.

Our first stop was Sacramento.  The state's capital was cool indeed.  Our hotel was perched DIRECTLY next to the famous gold Tower Bridge.  What a view and a great spot for pics... and some yoga ;)  Our last order of biz in Sac-town was of course,  In N Out Burger.

Then we took a drive down to Stockton, CA.  The people were warm and welcoming and the food was fabulous.  We stayed at the Hilton which was right in the heart of it all.  We got to visit the Haggin Museum and check out some art and local history.  The setting was surreal.

Next, we were fortunate enough to drive through one of most scenic settings I've seen.  We serpentined through the Sierra Nevada Mountains on our way to El Dorado County and Placerville, CA.   The Historic Cary House Hotel is where we made our home for the night.  It was built in 1857 during the California Gold Rush and the history and nostalgia were palpable throughout the hotel.

To end our trip, we drove straight to the majestic mountains and crystal blue waters of South Lake Tahoe.  Not only had I wanted to visit this gorgeous setting for years, but I've also wanted to snowboard at Heavenly Mountain so badly.  We stayed at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel which was LITERALLY on the state line of California and Nevada.  The proximity of the hotel to every single attraction was perfection.  It was right next to the Heavenly Gondola, and almost a part of Heavenly Village where all of the amazing dining, nightlife, and shopping is.  Oh and did I mention there are casinos?!?!  Spoiler alert- I didn't get too lucky :(
